These data were not referenced to any particular coordinate system. Conservation area boundaries were extracted from this DXF file. A draft version of Stratton's GIS parcel data were obtained from Cartographic Techologies, Inc., Brattleboro, Vt. and used to help register the DXF data. The data were obtained in August 2001. When the original DXF data were scaled and transposed to overlay Vermont GIS data, the conservation area boundaries had to be adjusted slightly to match base features. Conservation area boundaries may not have been precisely defined. Boundaries are probably within 50 meters of their intended location. DESCRIPTION, FEATURE DEFINITION, METHODOLOGY, etc. This coverage contains the boundaries of conservation areas as delineated in the 1997 Wildlife Habitat Management Plan for Stratton Mountain Ski Resort, prepared by Pioneer Environmental Services, Inc., Logan, Utah. A DXF file of an environmental constraints map was obtained from Pioneer. The data did not appear to be registered to any specific coorindate system. Conservation area arcs were extracted from the data, and in ArcView were translated and scaled to closely match GIS data registered to the Vermont State Plane coordinate system. Using base data on the original environmenal constraints map and base data in GIS format, the conservation areas were adjusted in ArcView to match as best as possible their original locations on the constraints map. In the Town of Stratton, draft GIS parcel data from Cartographic Associates, Brattleboro, Vt., was used to help register the DXF data. Where conservation area boundaries corresponded with parcel boundaries, the boundaries from the parcel data were used. They are intended only to be an approximate representation of the areas in GIS format for use with other GIS data.
