2000 Census Data

The best source for census data in the State of Vermont is the University of Vermont's Center for Rural Studies (CRS), http://crs.uvm.edu. They have developed a robust set of web pages containing a great deal of statistical information in a variety of formats. Below are links to some of the most useful sections of the CRS site.

• Vermont State Data Center page - This page, http://crs.uvm.edu/census, is an excellent place to start your search for data.



• Demographic Profiles - These are four-page, printer-friendly summaries for each Vermont town, in PDF format. These summaries provide you with a host of demographic, economic, social, and housing information. Thy are at http://crs.uvm.edu/2000dps.



• Vermont Indicators Online - This web site, http://maps.vcgi.org/indicators/, has town, village, county, and supervisory union profilers that provide information similar to that in the Demographic Profiles, plus data on general planning, natural resources, transportation, and property valuation and taxation. Other valuable features of the Indicators website include the ability to get an explanation of each information category (e.g. find out what, exactly, constitutes a "housing unit" versus a "household"), to download the data, and to map the data.



• Vermont Housing Data - The Vermont Housing Data website, http://www.housingdata.org/, contains not only housing data, but information on Vermont housing issues as well.
